What are the 7 steps?
There are 7 steps to the Pyramid that you will climb from the ground up. You will develop a concise vocabulary that you can use as is, or modify as you see fit, when you teach. It will also give you a clear way to communicate throughout the course. The teaching methodology provides you with effective strategies based on methods developed by world famous dance masters. There are how-to’s for structuring both private lessons and group classes. You will acquire the skills to teach someone else the fine art of dance performance from informal to formal shows. All the while you will be evolving too. After all, students want an instructor that is a powerful performer.
- Step 1 – Foundation – – Creating a solid structural foundation; Dance anatomy; Body isolations, Selecting a dance vocabulary; Basic movements and turns; How to set up a basic beginner class; How to create a single lesson plan; How to create level-appropriate dance combinations.
- Step 2 – Expansion – Building upon the basics; How to create theme and variations; Teaching accessories such as Veil and Finger Cymbals.
- Step 3 – Application – Applying Skills to Music, Arabic dance music and instrumentation; Taxims; Basic Arabic dance rhythms; Terminology and Glossary; How to teach advanced finger cymbals.
- Step 4 – Transformation – Transforming your students into performers; Planning your classes; How to choreograph level-appropriate dances for your classes; Comparing & contrasting Egyptian vs. Turkish styles; How to create enticing entrances & exciting exits; Tips for choreographing drum solos and group numbers.
- Step 5 – Illumination – How the art of improvisation illuminates the performer; Choreography versus improvisation; Tips on performing with live music; How to teach your students to improvise and create spontaneous movement; Movements that call to the audience; Emotional expression; How to improvise for unexpected occurrences during performance.
- Step 6 – Progression – Studying the history and evolution of Middle Eastern dance; Understanding the importance of your dance lineage; How to teach the history to your students.
- Step 7 – Mastery – The business of belly dance; Effective marketing; In-person versus Virtual classes, How to create a contract for your teaching skills and for shows; Liability issues; Creating an online presence; Branding your dance business.
Who is Jasmin Jahal?
Having mentored under master choreographer Ibrahim Farrah, Jasmin Jahal carries on the “Bobby” legacy. With 40 years of belly dance experience under her belt (or should we say hip scarf?), Jasmin is known as a Dancer’s Dancer and a Teacher’s Teacher. She has performed and taught throughout North America, Europe, and the Middle East. Her style is reminiscent of the most elegant oriental dance legends. As an instructor, she has been called an “encyclopedia of dance knowledge.” Jasmin nurtures her students, from beginners through the professional level, while sharing her passion for the artistry and history of oriental dance. What does each step include?
Each step includes streaming videos, written materials, a quiz, a 30-minute consultation and homework that is to be submitted before advancing to the next step.
What if I finish early?
You have access to the course for 12 months and can go at your own pace. You can take the final exam within that year of time, anytime you are ready.
What happens if I get behind and cannot finish in time?
Special contingencies can be arranged on an individual basis.
What happens if I fail?
You will have an opportunity to test a second time.
Will I have access to this course after the program is complete?
You will have access to the course for a period of 12 months from your start date. You will have access to Jasmin Jahal as a mentor after you graduate.
Where is the test held?
The final exam will be held virtually and arranged when you are ready, within 12 months from your start date.

What is the Final Exam?
You have a period of 12 months to access course materials and complete all 7 steps of the program. The final exam is offered virtually whenever you are ready within this 12-month period.
The final exam is both practical and written, based upon all the information that you have studied.
